Back in the ring, ‘Sexy Boy’ plays and the crowd go ballistic as Shawn Michaels walks out, wearing a cowboy hat, jacket, collared shirt and jeans and one of his arms hidden inside his jacket. Shawn takes the long walk down the rampway, with no gestures or taunts of any kind, and enters the ring, immediately taking a microphone.

Shawn Michaels: This past Sunday at One Night Stand, I faced ‘The Animal’ Batista, and if I lost... then my career would be over.

This elicits a mixed reaction for 'Aitch 'Bee 'Kay.

Shawn Michaels: I won that match, so my career is still going strong, but in all honesty, sooner rather than later the time will come when I look at myself in the mirror and I say to myself 'my time will be up soon'.

There are murmurs amongst the crowd.

Shawn Michaels: And after this past Sunday I’ve been thinking more...and more...and more about that, because...I suffered an injury.

Shawn Michaels removes his jacket, hanging it on the ropes, and we can see that Shawn's right arm is in a sling, which gets a mixed reaction and the few screams and shouts from the crowd.

Shawn Michaels: I have completely torn my triceps, and my doctor told me this past Wednesday that I would require surgery and I could be out for up to 4 months. So, this is going to be my last appearance for a while, but when I’m healed, I wanna to be 'The Heart-Break Kid', I wanna be 'The Showstopper', I wanna be 'Mr. WrestleMania'...But in 4 months time, when I come back, I worry that I might not be able to do that anymore.

The crowd don’t quite know what to think of Shawn Michaels right now, in this emotional speech.

Shawn Michaels: 24 hours a day, I close my eyes, and I think back to my ‘glory days’. The times when I was young, I was flamboyant, I was a degenerate, and no matter what I did, right or wrong, it would result in a spectacle, it would result in something that would be talked about for years to come. That was then, and this is now. The clock is ticking, my career’s winding down, and if the worst comes to worst and my injury takes its toll on me...Then....Then this...could....well...well be the last time...you see me in the WWE.

'Voices’ plays and Randy Orton, making his first SmackDown appearance in over 2 years, becomes visible on the High-Definition Set, getting heat from the crowd for interrupting Shawn Michaels during Shawn’s difficult time. Randy Orton, wearing a shirt from the 'A f f l i c t e d' brand and denim jeans, walks down the rampway with his cocky swagger, before entering the ring, and grabbing a microphone while not taking his vicious and slithering eyes off Shawn Michaels.

Randy Orton: Shawn, I have to admit, I'm not buying into this at all...This – is – pathetic.

Randy Orton draws some absolutely huge heat from this, and some brief 'Asshole' chants become prominent but gradually quieten down when Randy presses the microphone to his lips.

Randy Orton: We all know whatever you’re saying is total lies. Being the attention-seeking, washed-up has-been you are, you’re obviously going to come back, you can’t help it. You’re Shawn Michaels; you can’t stay out of the spotlight for one moment.

Randy Orton’s the centre of attention now, getting tons of heat.

Randy Orton: Just because the likes of myself, Chris Jericho, and Jeff Hardy have come to SmackDown in the Draft this past Monday, doesn’t mean you can come out here, make up some crap and force out some tears. Y’know, I actually think this experience is making Ric Flair look a whole lot better, you know that guy you retired with your own foot, which you popped him in the jaw with.

The acknowledgement of Ric Flair gets lots of ‘Woooo’s from Los Angeles, but when Randy Orton's comments following the mention of Naitch sink in, they turn to boos.

Randy Orton: It makes Ric Flair look a whole lot better, because at least he had the balls to have his career done and finished in the ring, instead of coming out and whining and complaining about your own misfortune, like you.

Shawn Michaels’ bubble is going to burst any...minute...now.

Randy Orton: But at least now you’re finally going to shift your ass out of the way and pass the torch onto the next generation of Superstars who are going to take this company into the future, because quite frankly, the sooner you’re gone, the better...

Shawn Michaels can’t take it anymore and NAILS RANDY ORTON WITH SWEET CHIN MUSIC! The power of the super-kick sends Randy Orton tumbling out of the ring, and ‘Sexy Boy’ hits, as Shawn Michaels slowly walks away, trying to not to hurt his torn tricep. Shawn's water-filled eyes and puppy dog look turn to a remorseless glare at the Legend Killer, who is trying to scramble his way up. Shawn mouths 'I'll see you again in 4 months' before walking to the back for what will be the last time in a while.
